NANOTEC2008.IT is an international conference which aimed at:

• Giving a comprehensive picture of nanotechnology at a national level in relation to activities, perspectives and needs, in comparison to what is happening in other countries;
• Presenting the latest developments and trends in terms of R&D, applications and governance worldwide;
• Offering the opportunity for a debate amongst representatives of industry, public research and governmental bodies;
• Stimulating initiatives of cooperation, coordination and support aimed to promote and make the efforts in this field more effective.

Jointly organised by Airi/Nanotec IT and Veneto Nanotech with the collaboration of Regione Veneto, Veneto Innovazione and Nòva24, NANOTEC2008.IT showed how nanotechnology can lead to the development of a new generation of products, devices and processes which can revolutionise sectors of great relevance. The agenda mirrored the objectives of the Industrial Innovation Programme launched by the Italian Government, Industry 2015, which focuses on themes at the front worldwide:

• Energy efficiency;
• Sustainable mobility;
• New technologies for life sciences;
• New technologies for  Made in Italy;
• Innovative technologies to preserve the cultural heritage.

A session has been specifically devoted to the responsible development of nanotechnology, crucial for the success of this technology.

In connection with Nanotec2008.it, on Friday 14^th March, Veneto Innovazione organized a session dedicated to centres of excellence well known worldwide. A brokerage event has also be organised, dedicated to enterprises, universities, research centres to meet potential partners for developing new products, establishing licences or production agreements and joint ventures agreements (www.ntv.ircnet.lu).
